## What the Colors in the Kanji Grid Mean Each cell in the kanji grid on the progress dashboard is split into two halves — the left half shows the kun (native Japanese) reading and the right half the on (Chinese-derived) reading — and each half is colored by that reading's mastery level. This way, progress on just one of the readings is visible at a glance. | Color | Meaning | |---|---| | Gray | A reading not yet quizzed | | Red | Level 1 (Learning) | | Yellow | Level 2 (Practicing) | | Green | Level 3 (Mastered) | | Diagonal stripe | The kanji does not have that reading (kun or on) | Each reading's level is the higher of your reading-practice and writing-practice results. For example, a reading you have only answered correctly in writing practice will still be reflected in the color.
